FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Cloudy start to your New Year's Eve with cooler temperatures

(WAFF) -

Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout Thursday but most areas will stay dry as rain showers will be ongoing to our southeast. Cooler weather is headed into the Valley and for the most part, we'll be starting the day a few degrees lower than we did Wednesday. Many of you are in the low-to-mid 40s for the morning.  Thanks to the fair amount of cloud cover and limited sunshine, temperatures won’t warm too quickly and will top out around 50.

The clouds will stick around tonight, but rain free conditions continue. Look for midnight temperatures to be dropping into the upper 30s, so dress warmly if you’ll be celebrating the new year outside. Lows should bottom out in the low-to-mid 30s.

We’re in store for a cool finish to the week. New Year’s Day highs will stay in the mid-40s. We should start Friday morning with cloudy skies, but the clouds should thin and diminish heading through the afternoon. With mainly clear skies that night, temperatures will drop into the upper 20s for lows
