FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Cooler temperatures and a brief break in rainfall

(WAFF) -

We’re starting Tuesday morning cooler than we have recently, with many of you starting out in the mid-to-upper 40s. With no rain in the area, you’ll be swapping the umbrellas for light jackets. You'll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. While at times the skies may look overcast, there will also be periods when the clouds become a bit thinner.

Temperatures should make it into the upper 50s, which is still about 5° above average for this time of year. The break in the rain should help flood waters recede, but another round of showers is in the forecast for tonight. Showers will continue on Wednesday, but should be more widespread to our south. The highest chance for rain locally will be over northeastern portions of the state with lower chances towards the Shoals. Highs Wednesday should also be in the upper 50s.
