FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Severe weather threat passes, lingering showers possible for Christmas Eve

(WAFF) -

The severe storm threat has passed, although some lingering showers are possible over northeastern Alabama Thursday morning. You'll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day with more sunshine towards the north and more cloud cover to the south.

Temperatures will remain unseasonably warm as we head through the Christmas holiday. A few scattered showers and storms may develop later, but no severe weather is expected. Temperatures will make it to the mid-70s with south winds around 5-10 mph.

A boundary left over as a result of yesterday’s storms should lift back to the north Thursday evening, keeping in the 60s and bring a higher chance for rain/storms back to the Valley. Gusty winds of 30-40 mph may accompany some of the heavier rain overnight and into Christmas Day, but severe storms aren’t anticipated.
