HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Every single day Loretta Robinson relives the day her son died.

“My son was killed on June 13th, 2011.” said Robinson. “I’ll never see my son grow old.”

Her then 30-year-old son Justin was killed by a drunk driver.

“I’m angry because the last time I touched him was the last time I touched him.” said Robinson.

Now, four years later she is getting stronger but still has weak days.

“You leave people maimed and just torn up emotionally and physically.” added Robinson.

That is why police are working to end that suffering.

“We’re looking for indicators to see if they’re intoxicated,” said Sgt. Kevin Matthews with the Huntsville Police Department.

Matthews said every day someone is stopped for D.U.I. and that starting Thursday night Huntsville PD will have multiple DUI checkpoints around the city to catch those offenders.

“They’re not going to get home, they’re not going to be out there on the road and cause an accident,” said Sgt. Matthews.

While police work to save lives, Robinson is working on being at finally being at peace.
