FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Dense fog blanketing most of Tennessee Vall - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Dense fog blanketing most of Tennessee Valley, advisory in effect until 9 a.m.

(WAFF) -

Thick fog is fairly widespread Thursday morning and a dense fog advisory is in effect for the Tennessee Valley through 9 a.m. The fog will likely hang around longer than that in some spots, but it should be thinning in most areas. Visibility will be reduced to less than a quarter-mile and you’ll want to budget extra time for a slower drive than normal. Once the fog lifts, you’ll see partly-to-mostly cloudy skies through the day.

Thursday will be a warmer day than yesterday as highs make it back into the mid-60s. With the additional cloud cover Thursday night, lows will stay in the 50s. You can expect unseasonably warm weather for Friday and the weekend.

Even though we’ll see more clouds than sun, Friday’s high should still make it to near 70 with lows in the upper 50s that night. For some perspective, that will be warmer than our average high this time of year, which is 55.

Highs Saturday will be into the low-to-mid 70s, which is close to record high territory.
