NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA (WAFF) - Police in New South Wales, Australia were expecting a possible scene of carnage.
What they found led to some laughter, despite screams of bloody murder.
According to the Harbourside LAC - NSW Police Force Facebook page, officers were called to a home in the Wollstonecraft suburb on Nov. 21 to investigate reports of a violent domestic dispute.
Callers had reported a woman screaming, and shouts of a man yelling "I'm going to kill you. You're dead! Die, die," and furniture being smashed.
Police repeatedly asked the man who answered the door where his wife or girlfriend was.
Confused, the man denied there being anyone else at the home.
Eventually, police said, the man sheepishly replied, "It was a spider; a really big one!"
"What about the woman screaming?"
"Yeah, sorry, that was me. I really, really hate spiders," the man said.
"As it turns out, the male was chasing a rather large spider around the unit with a can..." police wrote on their Facebook page. "After a very long pause, some laughter, and a quick look in the unit to make sure there was no injured party (apart from the spider) we left."
