Government shutdown averted with budget deal

   We are sharing some welcome news this morning for the thousands of people who work at Redstone Arsenal and in other government jobs in the Tennessee Valley. 
   Good morning, everyone!  Trent Butler here. 
   A federal shutdown is off the table now that lawmakers have reached a tentative budget deal.  We'll tell you how lawmakers compromised to avert a shutdown. 
   We're seeing strong opinions on our Facebook page after a Decatur elementary school teacher apologized for darkening his face and dressing up as Kanye West for Halloween. Some of you think the teacher and the school district should not have apologized, saying it was just a Halloween costume.  Others argue the teacher should have known he would offend African-Americans by turning his face black. 
   David Ernst is talking about another rainy morning commute.  Make sure you give yourself some extra time
to get where you're going since the roads are slick.
