FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Slightly warmer start to Friday with temps reaching mid-80s

(WAFF) -

You'll start this morning a few degrees warmer than Thursday, with many of you in the low-to-mid 50s. Some are as cool as the mid-40s, so despite a warm afternoon forecast, you may still need a jacket for a few hours. Fog won’t be a widespread problem, but there will still be some foggy spots, especially near rivers and lakes.

Skies will be mostly sunny today, although you’ll notice more cloud cover developing this afternoon. Temperatures will warm quickly as they have all week, with temperatures in the the mid-to-upper 70s by noon with highs into the low-to-mid 80s.

Look for a pleasant evening if you’re headed out to watch those high school football games. We should be into the lower 70s as games kick off with readings falling through the 60s during the game. Lows should bottom out near 60° on Saturday morning.

Clouds will increase on Saturday with an isolated shower possible by the afternoon.  Many will stay totally dry, but the highest chance for rain will be across northwestern parts of the state and southern Tennessee. Highs Saturday should still make it around 80° despite the additional cloud cover.

Sunday will be similar, with highs hovering in the mid-to-upper 70s. While the chance for rain does go up for the next work week, there is still some uncertainty surrounding when the heaviest rain will fall.
