Pitch count set for AHSAA in 2017

ALABAMA (WAFF) - The AHSAA will implement a new pitch count rule for baseball in the state.

The new rule, which goes into effect in 2017, will require a varsity pitcher to rest three calendar days after throwing 76 to 120 pitches in one day.

For junior varsity pitchers, it will be 100 and 85 for junior high or middle school players.

The current rule allows a player to pitch 14 innings in one week, with three calendar days of rest after pitching seven innings in one day, or pitching in two games on consecutive days.
