Company recalls squeezable apple sauce pouches after mold found

(WAFF) - GoGo squeez, the manufacturers of squeezable pouches of apple sauce, has issued a recall after mold was found in some of their products.

In a statement on its website, the company's CEO, Michael Larroche, said they identified a production problem that caused mold to develop in some of their apple sauce pouches. Larroche said they were able to catch most of the the potentially affected products before they go to the stores, but some may have reached the store shelves anyway.

An independent lab tested the mold, and an expert microbiologist determined that it poses no known health risk," said Larroche. "However, we know mold is gross and unpleasant to look at or taste, and this is simply not the kind of experience we want you to have."

The recall  affects GoGo squeez AppleApple pouches with a "Best Before Date" between 6/30/16 and 7/26/16. More instructions on how to identify the products are available here.

If you have any of these products in your home, you can click here for recall information, or call 844-275-5841.

The company says they are working closely with the FDA.
