One deli is ready for another shot and several other dining establishments made their way off the low performer list.

The Morgan County Health Department handed Izzy's Deli a 77. Izzy's Deli operates inside of a convenience store at 5356 Highway 67 in Somerville. The owners said they were disappointed by the score, but that they are confident about keeping it clean for their reinspection.

Co-owner Imad Mozeb said it was their first inspection after they expanded the entire store, which includes a major expansion of their menu.

"We changed a lot of stuff. All we had was Hunt Brothers Pizza. Now we added Krispy Krunchy, and we keep adding stuff to the menu. We got tornados, good chicken, jambalaya, macaroni and cheese," Mozeb said.

He pointed out that Izzy's Deli didn't have major infractions involving food, and said they look forward to turning their score around.

"We're always trying to improve ourselves, whether it's with the health score or the cleaning supplies or anything, we're always trying to improve," Mozeb said.

The cleaning supplies refer to one of their two critical violations. Izzy's Deli lost points because toxic cleaners and air fresheners were stored above the food prep area and next to food containers. The inspector also reports a couple of food items did not have date stickers to indicate when they would expire.

Now for some Kitchen Cops comebacks: The Hard Dock Cafe in Decatur came into their inspection as a back-to-back-to-back low performer, but the staff broke that poor score streak at three with an 88, 19 points better than last time.

The China Dragon on Wall Triana Highway barely made the low performers list when they scored an 84, and now they're off of it after scoring an 89 during their reinspection.

The Rattlesnake Saloon in Tuscumbia is also off of the low performers list after scoring a 90, six points better than last time.

Six food establishments are Kitchen Cops High Performers this week: 5A's Restaurant in Harvest and the deli at the Publix in Harvest each scored a 99.

The Subway on Woodward Avenue in Muscle Shoals, the deli at the Foodland on County Line Road in Muscle Shoals 98, The Wild Lily Restaurant, which is located at The Victorian Tea Room in Muscle Shoals, and Daily Bread Bar-B-Q in Russellville each scored a 98.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
