FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Foggy start to Wednesday with above-average temperatures in the forecast

(WAFF) -

We’re starting this morning a few degrees cooler than yesterday with temperatures ranging from the mid-50s into the lower 60s. Patchy fog developed overnight and there will be pockets of dense fog this morning, more widespread than yesterday. Be sure to allot yourself a little more time on your morning commute as the fog should lift by 9 a.m.

Skies will be mostly sunny otherwise and that continues into the afternoon. We’ll likely see a slight increase in cloud cover this afternoon compared to this morning.

Temperatures will warm quickly, and highs should be almost 10° above average. We’ll top out in the upper 80s in Huntsville and west of I-65 and low-to-mid 80s can be expected over northeastern AL. Skies will stay clear tonight, and lows will fall into the lower 60s for Thursday.

We’ll see mostly sunny skies Thursday with increasing clouds for the afternoon. A stray shower could develop like it did Tuesday but many of you will stay dry. Highs will be into the upper 80s once again as a cold front inches towards the Valley on Friday.

Friday will start out dry but scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are likely to develop during the afternoon hour. The showers continue into the evening but should wrap up overnight.
