Cabela's superstore opens doors

Cabela's, one of the largest outdoor superstores, is opening its first Alabama location in Huntsville Wednesday morning. Hundreds of anxious outdoor enthusiasts began lining up Tuesday afternoon for Wednesday's opening at 10 a.m. The 82,000 square-foot store began construction last fall and has hired over 200 people. As a part of their grand open extravaganza, the first 500 customers in line will receive a Cabela's gift card valued up to $500 plus a chance to win one of six Remington firearms. Cabela's is located at 7090 Cabela Drive NW.

Expect patchy fog on your morning drive

The issue short-term this morning will be patchy dense fog. It will be thickest near rivers/lakes and in our valleys. While it’s not widespread enough to be a problem for everyone, but if you still may want to give yourself a few extra minutes in case you need to slow down. Any fog should be gone by 9, and we’re looking at mostly cloudy skies through the day.

Home a total loss after fire

An Owens Cross Roads home is a total loss after an early morning fire broke out. Firefighters from three different fire stations responded to the home on Byrd Lane just after 3:30 a.m. The homeowner says he heard the smoke detectors go off and he and another person made it out of the home. Three dogs were also inside of the home but it is unknown if they were able to make it out. The home was declared a total loss.
