LOOK AHEAD: Warm day for the first full day of Fall

(WAFF) - Thursday is the first full day of fall, but it will still be feeling like the late summer this afternoon.

We're starting the day with mainly clear skies, although a few pockets of fog are possible through 8-9 Thursday morning. Skies will be mostly sunny this morning, but cloud cover will increase this afternoon. Temperatures will warm quickly into the mid/upper 80s.

A stray rain shower is possible across the Valley this afternoon with east winds at 5-10 mph.  Clouds will continue increasing this evening, and isolated showers could develop east of I-65 overnight. Lows will fall into the mid 60s for Friday morning.

Our weather becomes unsettled for Friday and the weekend. Temperatures will be cooler, but that is due to cloud cover as opposed to more fall-like air moving into the Valley. Friday temperatures may not even make it back to 80° with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers.

You can expect similar weather Saturday, although we likely won't see as much rain compared to Friday. Skies stay partly cloudy into Sunday with isolated showers.  Unfortunately, the cloud cover may hang on to block the view of Sunday evening's lunar eclipse.
