Barry Whitton's trial enters 2nd week
Suspected killer Barry Whitton is expected to return to the Jackson County courthouse Monday morning as his murder trial enters its second week. Prosecutors say they hope to finish presenting their case by the middle of the week. Last week, the jury heard from investigators, friends and family of Michelle, Barry Whitton's parents, and family members who own the land where Michelle's body was found. Whitton is charged in the beating death of his first wife, Michelle, in 1997. Prosecutors say Whitton beat his wife Michelle with a butt of a gun so bad it fractured the back of her skull then dragged her body into the woods where he buried her. Last week, the jury heard testimony from friends and family of both Barry and Michelle Whitton.
