Fire destroys Lauderdale Co. business

A business on Highway 101, just a few miles from downtown Lexington, caught fire Wednesday night. Firefighters received the call just after 9:00 last night. Crews received help from four other firefighter units to help extinguish the blaze, which was located in the back of the building. Officials say the building was being remodeled and is likely a total loss. The name of the business is unknown at this time but sources say that it sold lumber. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Car wreck leaves residents without power

A late-night car wreck in Madison left some residents without power. The single-car wreck happened at the intersection of Michael Avenue and Wall Triana when the vehicle struck a power pole. The passenger of the vehicle was transported to Huntsville Hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time. Witnesses on the scene say the driver of the vehicle got out and ran from the scene after the wreck. Power was cut off from Browns Ferry Road to Gillespie Road. Huntsville Utilities was sent out to repair the outage and downed power lines as a result of the wreck. Power was restored a short time later.
