Shooting suspect remains at-large

Decatur police say a man wanted in connection with a shooting investigation should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators said Johnny Darryl Strong Jr. shot a man during a fight Tuesday in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue SE. The victim was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. If you have information related to Johnny Darryl Strong Jr's whereabouts, you are asked to call Decatur police.

Eric Parker trial resumes today

The trial for a Madison police officer accused of excessive force picks back up Wednesday following a delay prompted by a specially-called meeting between the judge, attorneys, and police officials. The meeting took place behind closed-doors,and began shortly after the arrival of Police Chief Larry Muncey. Details of that meeting were not disclosed when the trial resumed, however a source indicated the subject concerned email contact Muncey made with officers who had previously testified in previous sessions of the Parker trial.

The defense began calling witnesses to the stand Tuesday, including a former officer who worked with Parker in the field. Parker himself is expected to take the stand and testify at some point during the trial.

House fire leaves home a total loss

A Somerville home is a total loss after an early morning house fire. Crews from both Somerville and Priceville responded to the house fire located on Wildwood Way in Somerville just after 3:30 Wednesday morning. The two-story home is a total loss after the fire. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
