(WAFF) - The Auburn Tigers question marks revolved more around their defense Saturday.
Will Muschamp, the new defensive coordinator; Tigers fans hoping that he can turn around an abysmal unit from a year ago.
It appears that could be the case moving forward.
Louisville made a game of it late in the second half, courtesy of a few bad interceptions by Jeremy Johnson, but much like Johnson a quarterback, the defense showed enough to make any Auburn fan encouraged for the rest of the season.
"Just having our hype man, Coach Muschamp," Defensive tackle Montravious Adams said after the game. "I think he's a great coach, and he brings so much energy to the defense. It's just so much energy, we feed off that, and we be ready to play."
"It's a good feeling, but you know, the game, is four quarters," said Justin Garrett, who had a fumble return TD in Saturday's game. We got to make those corrections, leverage the football better. i got to make a lot of corrections, and the defense has to make a lot of corrections, in order for us to keep winning and playing like that."
Gus Malzahn liked the outcome and the talent his young team displayed.
"The great thing about this team, is that we're young, in a lot of area, we're putting in a new defense, got a lot of new guys touching the football, and found a way to win, so I'm excited, and excited about our team."
The Tigers prepare for their home opener against in state opponent Jacksonville State Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 AM CT.
