(WAFF) - Prosecution rests in Eric Parker trial

Thursday afternoon, the prosecution rested their case against Madison police officer Eric Parker. The defense asked the judge for an acquittal, claiming the prosecution didn't prove Sureshbhai Patel's civil rights were violated by Parker and the judge didn't deny the motion. A Madison police captain also took the stand. He testified Parker's actions were not justified and his leg sweep was not part his department's training. Friday the defense is expected to call an expert witness to the stand tomorrow and officer Parker sometime next week.
