(WAFF) -

Most everyone dreams of getting their name up in lights.

How about something on a grander scale? What if your name made it through the skies, past the stars, and onto the surface of Mars?

Mars enthusiasts can participate in NASA's Journey to Mars by adding their names to a microchip destined for the Red Planet aboard NASA's InSight Mars lander, scheduled to launch next year.

Through Sept. 8, you can register your name online to be processed onto the chip, ensuring that you are part of the journey and the future of space exploration.

Last December, the names of more than 1.38 million people flew on a chip aboard the historic first flight of NASA's Orion spacecraft, which will carry astronauts to deep space, Mars, and beyond.

The fly-your-name program comes with "frequent flier points" to reflect your personal participation on the journey.

InSight will launch in March 2016, and is expected to land on Mars Sept. 28, 2016.
