LOOK AHEAD: Rainy weather with gusty wind and lightning possible

(WAFF) -

Expect wet weather for your week

Periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue off and on for the entire week. Many areas will pick up at least 2” of rain by Friday. Expect higher rainfall totals in areas that see thunderstorms. No severe weather is in the forecast, but some storms could produce significant lightning and strong gusty winds.

The most likely day for stronger storms will be Wednesday and Thursday. This is when a weak frontal boundary approaches the area from the northwest. This front will stall and eventually wash out across the Tennessee Valley Wednesday into Thursday. Street flooding could become an issue with some of the areas of heavy rain.  Afternoon highs will reach the lower to middle 80s with morning lows in the lower 70s.
