Huntsville police search for suspect in gas station robbery

Police are on the search for a suspect in an early morning gas station robbery in Huntsville. Police say the robbery happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wavaho gas station on Highway 72 east near Mastin Lake Road. Authorities say the male suspect robbed the gas station clerk at gunpoint. The man made away with an unknown amount of cash and drove away in a silver Ford Taurus. At this time no one is in custody and police are actively searching for this suspect.

Pre-trial hearing set today for Madison police officer

Attorneys for a Madison Police officer seen on tape tackling an elderly man to the ground will be in court today for a pre-trial conference. Eric Parker's trial is less than a month away, starting September 1st. Prosecutors only want the jury to see the first two minutes of the dash-cam video, filing a motion asking the judge to ban the rest of the video. Prosecutors say the back end of the video is "self-serving hearsay statements by the defendant." Parker faces a civil rights violation for the incident. Attorneys say the man he tackled didn't speak English well enough to understand what was happening and was left partially paralyzed. Parker's pre-trial conference is set at 10:30 at federal court in Birmingham.
