(WAFF) - The Auburn Tigers will rely on a few freshman for the 2015 season.
Madison Academy and Alabama's Mr. Football, Kerryon Johnson, will have a role in the offense, while Byron Cowart will be called upon to help the defense.
Even as Cowart comes in with a ton of prep accolades, It's still a work in progress playing against more seasoned, mature players on campus during fall camp.
"I think we put so much unrealistic pressure on these kids, with all the recruiting services, and the ratings and the rankings, you know, it's just a lot of pressure," said defensive line coach Rodney Garner. "You're playing against a different caliber of player than what you played against in high school. You know he's working hard, [Thursday] was his best practice that he's had all camp, so I think that gave him a little more confidence."
Auburn scrimmaged Saturday afternoon. The offense did more passing in play inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. Gus Malzahn noted that the offense got the best of the defense. The Tigers resume practice this week.
