AT 10: Teacher fired after list of infractions

Good Wednesday evening.

After a lengthy personnel hearing, a Huntsville City school teacher has been terminated. Eleanor Burks had been written up 12 times for everything from verbally abusing her students to helping one student cheat on a standardized test. WAFF 48’s Tiani Jones will have more on today’s action by the school board.

Speaking of schools, the Decatur City School system might have to do more with less. Mayor Don Kyle is discussing a plan that would place a cap on how much the city’s schools can receive from sales tax. WAFF 48’s Vincent Crivelli spoke with both the mayor and the school superintendent.

And two thieves stole more than a dozen air conditioning units from Bob Jones High School in Madison. They were after the copper, coils and fittings inside. I’ll have more on how you can help solve this crime in this week’s Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers.

We’ll see you tonight at 10.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
