MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

The hot hands of some crooks pulled off a "cool" crime, that really isn't all that cool. They made off with a number of air conditioning units from a school.

But investigators are hot on their trail and need your help to put these the freeze on their little racket.

Normally we show you faces. This week, we're showing you a vehicle.

Madison police tell us the two people in a dark colored Ford SUV, which was pulling a U-Haul trailer, were stealing parts to air conditioning units at Bob Jones High School April 27.

We're told about 200 AC units were replaced as part of a major renovation here.

The older units were placed behind the school. That's when the crooks made off with the copper coils and fittings from inside those units.

A school spokesman tells me the two thieves stole the parts from 15 of the units, with the parts totaling around $300.

One can only guess they headed straight to a scrap yard.

If you know who these two thieves are, you have a big payday coming your way.

To collect the reward of up to $1,000, all you have to do is make an anonymous call to 256-53-Crime.

Scattered rain showers will linger this evening, especially east of I-65. There’s also a cold front still to our west that will move through the Valley with time overnight. Another round of heavier showers may develop along that front, but no severe weather is expected.
