HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Several Tennessee Valley restaurants were placed on the back-to-back low performer list for this week's Kitchen Cops.

El Azteca in Rogersville scored an 83 during their previous inspection. If they could score just two points better during their reinspection, they would earn their way off of the Lauderdale County Health Department's reinspection schedule. Instead, they scored two points lower, making the Mexican restaurant a back-to-back Kitchen Cops Low Performer. Hot food needs to maintain a minimum temperature of 135 degrees to keep bacteria from growing. The inspector reports chicken on the steam table was 13 degrees below that requirement. El Azteca also lost points because there were too many insects at one of their sinks.

Taqueria y Restaurante Mi Princesa in Boaz scored a 69. The Marshall County Health Department reports they were failing to properly sanitize utensils. Another violation was for workers having their drinks on the table where they were preparing carryout plates

Express 99 in Athens scored a 66. The inspector reports the ice maker and a slicer needed to be cleaned, some sandwiches didn't have expiration marks on them, and there is no hand sink in the food prep area.

The Elkmont Truck Stop scored a 73. The inspector reports utensils had food particles on them after being washed.

K & S Deli & Grocery in Elkmont is a back-to-back low performer. They scored an 83 last time, and earned A 74 during their reinspection. They had the same problem that was reported during their previous inspection as the inspector again found rodent droppings. Also, corn dogs were 15 degrees below the required temperature for hot food, and a pizza pocket was ten degrees below the mark.

King Buffet in Madison is one of two low performers that scored an 84 with just one critical violation. The inspector reports there was too much bleach in water used for cleaning at the waitress station.

Also scoring an 84, Tokyo Sushi and Steakhouse in Russellville lost points because the inspector discovered some shrimp that wasn't at the right temperature.

The La Estrella Bakery in Decatur needed an 85 or above to get off of the low performers list, and they scored an 86, nine points better than last time.

Mr. Crite's Bar-B-Que in Athens scored a 91 during their reinspection, a nine point improvement.

There are nine Kitchen Cops High Performers this week. Lucy's Sports Bar & Grill in Russellville is one of the five that scored a 99.

The others are the Peppered Pig food truck in Decatur, the Subway at 6125 University Drive in Huntsville, the deli at the Walmart on Florence Boulevard in Florence, and the Papa John's in Russellville.

Cooley's Corner Cafe in Florence is one of four that scored a 98. The rest are the Subway in Meridianville, the Steak-Out on Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville, and Holie Smoke BBQ in Harvest.
