BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Ferguson police exchange gunfire with man during demonstration

(WAFF) -

Good Monday Morning to you!

Sadly, we've been tracking some breaking news overnight coming out of Ferguson, Missouri. An exchange of gunfire between police and a suspect who was shot forced demonstrators to duck for cover. Timing couldn't be worse with demonstrations coming right at the one year anniversary of Michael Brown's death. We'll start the show at 5 a.m. on WAFF 48 News Today with the latest.

Back in the valley, hundreds of WWII vets are expected to attend the victory celebration at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. They're marking the anniversary of the victory over Japan 70 years ago. Muriel Bailey will be live with a special report this morning at 6:00 a.m.

Ahhh, what happened to getting work done over the weekend? Lawmakers still haven't agreed on a budget that will solve the state's debt crisis. They have until Tuesday to vote but Governor is already talking about a SECOND special session. We'll break that down at 5:30 a.m.

The toy and bedding section in Target will start to look a little different. Let's just say you won't see any pink or blue signs anymore. Hear what changes are coming at 5:47 a.m.

Lauren Morrison is back fresh off vacation tracking breaking news in our alert center & another Lauren is hanging out with us as well. Meteorologist Lauren Jones is in for David Ernst while he's on vacation and she'll have your weather on the 10s.

Let's make the best of this Monday and I'll see you starting at 4:30 a.m.
