LOOK AHEAD: Storms expected to make their way through the Valley

(WAFF) -

Warm, muggy weather ahead of a stormy Thursday

It’s another warm and muggy morning with temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s for most. We’re starting today with more cloud cover, and we should continue with partly cloudy skies this morning. Most of us will stay dry this morning, but isolated storms will develop as we head into the afternoon. Because of the hit or miss nature of those storms, there will be plenty that stay rain-free today. Temperatures should heat up quickly this morning. We’ll be into the upper 80s to near 90° by lunchtime with highs into the mid-90s. The heat index this afternoon should be around 100° during the hottest part of the day. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.

Our storm chance increases overnight, but any activity should stay isolated until around dawn.  Thursday looks to be the stormiest day of the upcoming week as a couple rounds of storms are possible starting with the morning. Some storms could be strong-to-severe with frequent lightning, heavy rain, and damaging wind gusts. With more numerous storms expected throughout the day, it should be a cooler afternoon with highs staying in the 80s. Rain should diminish by the evening, but additional scattered storms are possible on Friday.
