Alabama A&M Bulldogs hold first practice Saturday afternoon

Year Two of the James Spady era officially underway Saturday afternoon .The 2015 edition of the Bulldogs working out in Helmets and shorts, getting acclimated to the tempo of practice before the pads come on next week. For the head man in charge, it's all about effort, and fundamentals on day one.

"We'll do alot of the feeling out process. Alot of what we do the first couple of days, is getting guys used to tempo, getting guys used to the way we practice, and how to do drills, and those kinds of things. It will be alot of fundamentals the next couple of days," Alabama A&M Head Coach James Spady said.

For the second straight year, the quarterback position will be most watched during camp. A number of players vying for the starting job.

: "Right now it's gonna be a competition between  DeAngelo "Tootie" Ballard, Damian May, Cody Lui-Yen, the freshman PJ Garrett, and then we're gonna sprinkle in a guy or two. We're gonna find a quarterback out of that group, we'll find a number two guy, and I feel pretty good about the opportunity for the four that we've got penciled in right now, because they're pretty solid in their own right."

It appears running back will be a strength this season on the Hill, which could help the maturation process of the first years starter under center.

"If it has to be running back by committee, I'm OK with that. We've got three, maybe four really good running backs, that I feel confident in, and we're gonna put one step in front of the other and see what we can do with that, but It's gonna be important to establish that running game."

All practices are free and open to the public.
