COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Rescue crews recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy from the Tennessee River on Thursday night.

The Colbert County coroner identified the drowning victim as LaBronte Davis.

Crews recovered Davis' body from Town Creek, a body of water that feeds into Wilson Lake, just after 8 p.m. They searched for his body for nearly six hours.

Officials at the scene say the boy was swimming with a 12-year-old girl, a family member, when he went under water. The girl ran to a relative's home to get help.

Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene off Lakewood View Road in East Colbert County where they say the teen went missing.

The Colbert County dive team launched their boat just after 3 p.m. Killen Fire and Rescue also had their boat on scene and an air evacuation helicopter was on standby. At one point, eight rescue boats were on the water searching. Rescue crews and divers also spent a considerable amount of time in the water.
