(WAFF) -

Heat advisory back for some Tennessee Valley counties

A heat advisory is back in effect for Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Cullman, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin Counties from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Heat index values here should range between 105-110 degrees. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds into this afternoon, and temperatures will warm quickly with mostly sunny skies. Afternoon temperature readings should be into the low-to-mid-90s with highs into the upper-90s. Be sure to stay hydrated with water or sports drinks, and try to avoid strenuous activity in the direct sun. If you must work outside, take breaks in the shade or air conditioning if you can.

Scattered storms should develop with the afternoon heat, but there will be plenty that stay rain-free today. Storms could produce locally heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty winds of 35-45 mph. Any storms should wind down with sunset. Lows will drop into the mid-70s overnight.?
