LOOK AHEAD: Brief break from summertime temps
Brief break from summertime heat

(WAFF) - It's not as muggy or as warm this morning compared to yesterday, and many are starting the day around 70 degrees. Scattered clouds will diminish through the morning, but an isolated shower isn't out of the question. In general, temperatures will run about 5 degrees cooler than yesterday. The heat index won't be as oppressive either so there's no heat advisory. A few isolated storms could develop this afternoon, but any activity will not be as widespread as yesterday.

Our break from the extreme heat will only last one more day. Highs on Thursday should be in the mid-90s with a heat index close to 100 degrees. Highs should be back into the upper-90s with heat indices running in the triple digits. Stay hydrated if you'll be doing any work outside. You may even want to try and take care of any outdoor work today or tomorrow when it won't be quite as hot.
