LOOK AHEAD: Heat advisory in effect for most of the Tennessee Valley

(WAFF) -

Dangerous heat across the Tennessee Valley

A heat advisory is in effect for:  Madison, Morgan, Limestone, Cullman, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin counties today from noon until 7 p.m. Heat index values could be as high as 107.

Skies will be mostly sunny today, and we’ll heat up quickly. Expect temperatures into the lower 90s by noon with highs into the mid-to-upper 90s later today. Isolated storms could develop this afternoon, but there will be plenty of us that don’t see any rain. We’ll stay muggy tonight, and lows will drop into the low-to-mid 70s for Tuesday morning.

We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon. Scattered storms should develop during the afternoon, and some storms could be strong to severe. The highest storm chance will be over northeastern AL. Damaging wind gusts would be the primary threat from the stronger storms, but any storm could produce locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Tuesday should be hot as well, with highs in the mid-to-upper-90s before storms develop.
