Police said a single pickup truck turned over, and all three people were airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. Their ages and conditions are unknown at this time. Highway 247 was blocked in both directions while crews cleared the scene. The wreck happened near North Alabama Dragway. State troopers are now handling the investigation of the wreck. Pope Francis has an open invitation to visit Alabama. State Senator Hank Sanders wrote an open letter asking Francis to come to Selma during his first U.S. trip in September. No Pope has ever come to Selma. The Mayor of Birmingham has also invited Francis to visit there. Right now, the Pope's September trip itinerary includes only Washington D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia.
