Kitchen Cops: Five restaurants earn poor inspection scores

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Five area restaurants earned poor marks in the most recent round of Kitchen Cops inspections.

The Buffalo Wild Wings on University Drive in Huntsville scored an 82 during their inspection. The Madison County Health Department reports the discovery of a pink residue inside of an ice machine. When pink film builds up in an ice machine, it's tell-tale sign bacteria is growing. The inspector also reports they were using damaged fryer baskets.

Dub's Burgers in Athens also scored an 82. Cold food needs to be held at 41 degrees or lower to keep bacteria from forming. The health inspector reports finding chicken salad 13 degrees above that mark. They also found cracked plastic food bins. That can allow what's outside to get into the bin, and what's inside to leak out of it.

Cracked plastic bins were found at Mr. Crite's Bar-B-Que in Athens as they scored an 82. The inspector also took off points because of a worker's opened drink in a fridge.

Four Leaves Asian Restaurant in Huntsville scored an 84. Because of raw seafood, sushi temperatures need to be recorded throughout the day. The inspector reports the restaurant could not provide a log showing they did that. Also, sushi rice was 33 degrees below the required hot-holding food temperature.

The Hard Dock Cafe in Decatur scored an 83. The inspector reports a soda gun at the bar and an ice maker needed to be cleaned.

The Chuck E. Cheese's in Sheffield scored a perfect 100 during their inspection, making them this week's top scorer out of 11 Kitchen Cops High Performers.
Scoring a 99 were the Quizno's Classic Subs on University Drive in Huntsville, the Subway in Cherokee, and The Carriage in Florence,

Powers Family Cafe in Ardmore, the McDonald's in Meridianville, Trojan Express in Hazel Green, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant in Harvest, the McDonald's in Russellville, Mama's Cheese Straws in Florence, and the Quik Mart on Highway 72 in Rogersville each scored a 98.
