Kitchen Cops; 5 low performers, restaurant scores 71

China Grill Buffet in Madison is this week's lowest scoring Kitchen Cops Low Performer with a 71. Keeping cold-holding food at 41 degrees and lower keeps bacteria from growing. The health inspector reports some food temperatures that were off the mark. Raw chicken at the hibachi grill was 26 degrees above the required cold-holding temperature. Raw chicken in the kitchen was 15 degrees too warm. The inspector also reports the ice machine was very dirty.

The Domino's Pizza in Guntersville scored an 82. The inspector reports they were using a broken strainer. Also, none of the staff had their current food safety course certification.

The Best Wings on Blue Spring Road in Huntsville scored an 83. The Madison County Health Department reports finding shrimp and catfish without marks to keep track of the expiration dates. They also had a fryer strainer with broken wires.

South Sauty Cafe in Langston scored an 82. Potatoes and cheese held in a cooler were nine degrees above the required cold-holding temperature and the ice maker needed to be cleaned.

K & S Deli & Grocery in Elkmont scored an 83. This not the first time the health department has reported the discovery of rodent droppings there. K & S also lost points for using chipped plates.

An impressive comeback for the Wings to Go on North Memorial Parkway in Huntsville. They scored a 96 this time, 13 points better than their previous inspection, getting them off of the health department's reinspection schedule. 

The are ten Kitchen Cops High Performers this week. Fincher's Franks food truck in Huntsville scored a perfect 100.

The Fiesta Mexicana in Sheffield is one of five that scored a 99. The others are The Red Clay Epicurean in Sheffield, Bama Wild Dogs food cart in Guntersville, Piper & Artisan Tea Co. in Huntsville, and the Publix Supermarket's deli in Meridanville,     

The Subway on Triana Boulevard in Huntsville, the ChuckTruk food truck in Madison, Fujisan Sushi Bar in Huntsville, and the deli in The Fresh Market in Huntsville each scored a 98.
