HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Good morning! Here are some things you need to know as you head out the door:

2 transported to hospital in serious condition after early morning wreck.

We are working to get an update on a man and a woman who were in an early morning wreck.

Officers on the scene say that they were traveling southbound when they crossed over northbound traffic and hit the pole.

Authorities had to cut the vehicle in order to get the man and woman out safely. Huntsville Utilities is on the scene at this time repairing the pole. No traffic has been impacted at this time.

Man in custody after overnight chase.

Police have arrested a man after he led police on an early morning chase. Huntsville police say the man pulled up to a DUI checkpoint at Sparkman Drive when he quickly turned around and sped off.

He sped through North Huntsville swerving all over the road hitting speeds around 90 mph.

He raced west on Oakwood Avenue and turned on Shady Lane. That's where he hit spike strips and the chase came to a halt.

We are making calls to find out more information, as soon as we have more, we will pass it along.

State Lawmakers will be back for a special session.

This comes after Governor Bentley vetoed the general fund budget they passed. Before adjourning, the House voted to override the Governor's veto.

The vetoed bill cuts $200 million from state agencies. Lawmakers weren't able to agree on tax increases or other revenue sources.

Governor Bentley says this is not a workable budget. He says just fixing the problem this year is not the answer.

He said that Alabama needs a long term solution so lawmakers won't have to go through this year after year.

No word yet on when this special session will start.

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
