Look Ahead: Localized flash flooding and damaging winds possible - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

Look Ahead: Localized flash flooding and damaging winds possible by afternoon. George Pataki announces presidential run.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Good morning! Here are some things to keep your eye on during the day:

Localized flash flooding and damaging winds possible by afternoon.

As we warm up, rain and storms are in the forecast. The activity should be most widespread over northeastern Alabama this afternoon and evening. The threat for severe weather will be low, but as is typically the case this time of year, isolated storms can become more intense.

Damaging wind gusts would be the main threat with those. Localized flash flooding is also a concern due to the slow movement of storms today.

George Pataki announces presidential run.

Former New York Gov. George Pataki referenced his experience as a Republican in a "deep-blue state" in an online video Thursday that served to announce he was running for president.

The video, which appeared on YouTube and his campaign website, also contained images of him looking out on the One World Trade Center. Pataki served as governor when terrorists struck the city Sept. 11, 2001.
