'Quaff' quenches a hearty thirst

(WAFF) - You can't always "blame it on the alcohol." Sometimes you're just really, really thirsty.

Merriam-Webster defines "quaff" as the act of drinking anything - not just booze - deeply or heartily.

Sure, one could chug a beer, quaffing down the ale at his favorite sports bar or watering hole. But, one could just as easily quaff at an oasis, especially if he'd been dying of thirst in the desert.

Gulp, slurp, swig, toss down, guzzle, or hoist - quaff fits in quite well with these other refreshing words.
