A Madison County man accused of killing his 3-year-old son is expected in court Thursday morning.

Maurice Cartwright is asking the judge to set a bond again.

His bond was first set at $400,000 but when the child died last year in May, the judge ruled that he be held without a bond.

He was originally charged with aggravated child abuse but the charge was upgraded to capital murder when the boy died.

Doctors believe he choked his son causing brain trauma and internal bleeding.

At his last court appearance prosecutors argued that Cartwright is a flight risk and has a criminal history.

If he posts bond, he'll have to wear an ankle bracelet.

His bond hearing is set for 9 a.m.
