Look Ahead: 'Rape bait' case in Atlanta court today. Possibility for scattered showers and storms as cold front moves in.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Good morning! Here are some things to keep your eye on during the day!

Sparkman Middle School "rape bait" case

to be heard in Atlanta circuit court

today.

Final preparations are underway before the Sparkman 'rape bait' lawsuit heads to the 11th Circuit Court in Atlanta today.

Attorneys for the former middle school student say a school employee used the girl as bait to try and catch a student with a history of sexual misconduct.

This comes down to whether the court will consider what happened to be a Title IX violation.

Title IX protects students from any type of discrimination, and in this case, they are arguing discrimination based on sex.

It's an issue we talked to the victim's attorney about in late March.

House on track to vote on state budget.

The Alabama House of Representatives will vote today on a stripped down $1.6 billion budget that cuts roughly $200 million from state agencies. Gov. Robert Bentley has said that the cuts will "hurt people."

The State of Alabama is having trouble "living within its means," and is no closer to getting its budget in shape.

Monday evening the House Black Caucus put forward a strategy to fund services instead of cutting them. They want to start by expanding Medicaid to poor Alabamians.

Scattered showers and storms possible today.

We'll see a mix of sun and clouds through the day.

A cold front will pass through the Valley, and scattered showers and storms are possible along it.

By the late afternoon, most of that activity will be south of the Tennessee River. Drier air arrives over the course of the day with north winds of 5-10 mph. Highs should make it into the lower 80s.
