NB lanes of I-65 reopen following wreck in Cullman Co.

CULLMAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A two-vehicle accident on I-65 northbound has interstate blocked traffic for hours just south of Exit 299 (Dodge City) in Cullman County.

Traffic was reportedly backed all the way up to Exit 289 (Sulphur Springs) - almost 10 miles. The wreck involved and 18-wheeler and another vehicle towing a trailer. 

An ambulance was reported leaving the scene around 3:20 p.m. Monday.

Callers reported sitting in traffic for up for longer than two hours. Drivers parked their cars and stood around waiting for the road to reopen.

The Cullman County EMA reported the left lane of the interstate was re-opened just after 5 p.m., with all lanes designated re-opened by 6 p.m.

Officials said a secondary wreck at mile marker 296 resulted in additional delays..
