Russellville wins first ever State baseball championship

The Golden Tigers of Russellville completed the dream season and wins their first ever state championship in baseball with the sweep over Helena winning game two of the best of three series 4-1 in the Class 5A State Title series.

The Golden Tigers got a outstanding pitching effort from Jacob Green who went 6 1/3 innings without a run. He allowed the only run in the bottom of seventh, but the game was already clinched. The tournament MVP was Reed Smith.

The Cullman Bearcats also won a state title Saturday beating Pelham in two games in the 5A Championship. It's the Bearcats first state crown since 2008.
