FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - Florence police have a cautionary tale for people who may even be remotely curious to try synthetic marijuana, commonly called "spice."
Police said they responded to a call for help from an ambulance crew Tuesday afternoon.
The crew had encountered a man who had admitted to smoking the drug. The man was in medical distress, but was "very combative towards the medical personnel," police said.
A Florence police officer wound up riding in the back of the ambulance to maintain restraint of the man so that the medical crew could give him the treatment he needed.
Police shared this warning with the public: "Don't ingest harmful substances into your body, and you will never have to worry about this occurring to you."
