Derrick Henry, shines in first spring Alabama scrimmage

Even though it was scrimmage number one of spring, one Alabama player appears to be ready to play regular season football right now.

Junior running back Derrick Henry rushed for 112 yards, and a touchdown on 11 carries this afternoon. highly touted freshman runner Bo Scarborough had 36 carries and two scores, before leaving with an apparent knee injury. Madison native Reggie Ragland recorded 5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 3 passes broken up, and a fumble recovery. The scrimmage was closed to the media, and stats were released through Alabama's sports information. After the scrimmage, Nick Saban loved the spirit from his young group, and how the defensive line showed promise Friday afternoon.

"I really like the spirit of how this team goes about what they do. I think that the execution is not what we would like it to be on a consistent basis, there were alot of good things out there, there's also alot of things we need to clean up. The defensive front is probably the strength of our team right now. I think those guys showed that a little bit today."

Alabama returns back to practice Monday afternoon. The Tide's annual A Day game is set for April 18th.
