UAH rolls to big win over Miles

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The No. 6 University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team topped Miles by a score of 22-2 on Monday afternoon at historic Rickwood Field to kick off the week's slate of games. UAH improves to 23-4-1, while MC slips to 2-18.


The Chargers bats continued their hot streak with a total of 23 hits on the afternoon, led by Colton Simbeck who went 3-for-3 with two homers – including a grand slam – and five RBI. Simbeck is 7-for-7 at the dish over the past two games.

UAH began the onslaught against Miles with two runs in the first and another in the second, before erupting for an 11-run rally in the top of the third. The squad went on to chip in two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh before the game was called due to the mercy rule.

Heath McRae went to the bump to start for UAH on Monday, posting 3.0 scoreless frames with three strikeouts. McRae was given the win and improves to 3-0.

Brent ElderLandon Boggs and Charlie Weaver followed McRae out of the bullpen with a combined 4.0 innings, two hits allowed, two strikeouts and two earned runs. Both runs were tagged to Landon Boggs.

The Chargers had a total of eight batters record multi-hit games against the Golden Bears on Monday.

UAH looks ahead to a doubleheader against Miles on Wednesday at Charger Park. First pitch has been bumped up to 1 p.m. in Huntsville, which was originally slated to begin at 2 p.m.
