Wreck on Hwy. 20 near Decatur blocks traffic

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A wreck on Highway 20 leading into Decatur caused major blockage Saturday.

A viewer sent in a picture of the aftermath of the crash, which happened before 3:30 p.m. 

The wreck involved at least two vehicles. The photo shows a person on top of a heavily-damaged white vehicle with other people approaching the wreckage.

Witnesses said it was a head-on collision.

It is unclear at this time if there were any injuries.

Motorists were encouraged to seek alternate routes as work continues for several hours to clear the scene.

More details are expected as state troopers complete the initial stages of their investigation.
