LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A mistakenly-released inmate authorities were looking for has been captured.

Michael Prater, considered to be dangerous, was caught by Lauderdale Sheriff's Deputies at 8:30 p.m. in the Cloverdale area. Details as to how they caught him have not been released.

He has been out since Thursday and they returned him to jail on Friday night.

Police said they are very glad to have him back in jail and he will start serving his 15-year sentence.

Prater is serving time for child abuse charges in the state prison and was taken back to Lauderdale County last week to be sentenced for an escape charge.

Investigators said he used his 5-year-old son as a human shield when agents tried to arrest him for two felony warrants. He was also indicted on an aggravated stalking charge in June 2014.
