AL grandma accused of running granddaughter to death guilty of capital murder

ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - An Alabama grandmother accused of running her granddaughter, 9-year-old Savannah Hardin, to death was found guilty of capital murder on Friday night just before 9 p.m. 

Sentencing for Joyce Garrard will begin Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Garrard is accused of making her granddaughter run for hours to punish her for lying about eating candy bars. 

Garrard faces the capital murder charge because Hardin was under 14-years-old.
