Children discover body in Huntsville field

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a body by two children Monday night.

Police were called to an area just off Torrance Drive after dusk Monday evening.

Investigators said the children were cutting across the field, which is situated between two apartment buildings, when they came across the body.

An autopsy has been ordered. 

Police said they "know the individual's history," adding that the body was that of a male in his 40s.

Further details have not been released pending the results of the investigation.
